learned dance from the age of four and has presented her
Bharatanatya Arangetram under the tutelage of Mrs Santha Bhaskar.
She has performed extensively in Singapore and Malaysia. She
features regularly in productions of Nrityalaya Aesthetics
Society and Bhaskar's Arts Academy, including Ramayana, Aum
Muruga, mystic dance drama Quest, Vinayaka and Sanskrit drama
Vikramorvasiyam. |

Anjusha Varghese

| Anjusha Varghese started dancing at the age of 5 and won the coveted award of Kala Tilakam at the Kerala Schools Youth Festival as a student at 15. She then got admission to the world-famous Kalakshetra in Chennai and graduated in Bharata Natyam. She has also studied Mohini Attam and learnt Kathakali and Keralanadanam and she has been working as a dance teacher.

rene Manual specialises in Kathak, having learnt both Kathak and Bharatanatyam since 1985. Her Kathak gurus were Ms Prabha Rao, Ms Vinod Suri, Ms Deepanjali Bedi, Ms Uma Bhattacharya, Pt Charan Girdhar Chand and Mr Raghav Rao Bhatt. She has performed widely and staged productions like Kathak Ki Kahani and Ritu Chakra as producer, choreographer and dancer.

| Bhagya,
well known for her versatility and talent in Indian classical,
semi-classical and light music, has performed extensively in
India, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Cambodia
and USA. She has been a leading vocalist for several dance arangetrams,
dance recitals, temple festivals and music concerts. Bhagya
is recipient of the 'Singai Gamma Award' presented by Saaras
Promotions in 1992 and 'Geetha Kala Nipuna' by Nrityalaya Aesthetics
Society. She received 'Gaana Kogila Award' in 1997 and was awarded
'Best Vocalist ' for the release of Tamil devotional
songs through her audio CD titled 'Purandara Dasa Kirtis' for a collection
entitled "Dasana Madiko Enna". "Sangeetha
Saraswathi" is another prestigious title received by her.
She has been training many young and upcoming artistes in Singapore
for nearly two decades. Bhagya is teaching vocal at Nrityalaya. |

| Sajith graduated from the renowned Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Trivandrum with a post diploma in music for violin and obtained a M.A. in violin from R.L.V. College of Music, Tripunithara. He won in several music competitions as violinist and as vocalist. He has worked in the last 7 years giving musical support to theatre productions and as music director under the world famous stage director Kavalam Narayana Panikkar, touring all over India with the troupe, and has given accompaniment as violinist in music concerts of many eminent singers. |

N. Arasakumari

| Arasakumari first obtained a bachelor degree (B.A.) in performing arts from Bharathiyar Universtiy followed by masters of arts (M.A.) and masters of philosophy (M.Phil.) in Indian music from the University of Madras in Chepauk, Chennai. She has received advanced training in carnatic vocals from Kottaraka Shri V.S. Balamurali. She won first prize in several music competitions and is a graded artiste of All India Radio, Pondicherry. She has performed as vocalist for many productions of Bhaskar’s Arts Academy and is also an experienced teacher with the Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. |

ajasekar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Indian music from the University of Madras and a diploma in music teaching from the Tamil Nadu Government Music College. He is also qualified in western classical violin, piano and theory of music. As a music teacher, he has worked for various prestigious fine arts academies in India before joining Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society in Singapore.

| Ampili
Pradeep is a graduate in music form the University of Kerala, India,
and had obtained her Master's Degree in Music from the same
university. She has also completed M.Phil in Performing Arts
from Madurai Kamaraj University. She is a graded artiste with
All India Radio, Trivandrum, an excellent musician who has
given numerous performances in India. She is currently teaching
vocal at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. |

Ghanavenothan
Retnam

| Ghanavenothan,
with his unflinching devotion for Indian classical music, has
carved a niche in the arts scenario in Singapore. Son of Sri
R. Retnam, a pioneer musician of Singapore, he had his tutelage
under Pandit M. Ramalingam who nurtured his passion in playing
the flute. He has accompanied internationally renowned artists
and has numerous performances to his credit, in Singapore and
abroad, having the technical virtuosity in blending to the subtle
nuances of the abhinaya aspect that makes his dance music lilting
and ethereal.
This
prolific and high-calibre flautist has conducted two flute arangetrams,
the first of its sort in Singapore. Marking his outstanding contributions
to the arts field, he became the first Indian artiste in
Singapore to be awarded the prestigious national "Young Artist Award"
for music and was conferred the titles "Sangeetha Kala
Nipuna" and "Singai Venugana Visharada".
In
addition to performing, teaching and being the music director
at Bhaskar's Arts Academy, he also composes music for orchestras
and dance ballets for arts festivals both locally and abroad.
He has recorded his music extensively based on a classical or devotional
repertoire and on collaborations of east-west fusion. He also serves
on the various programming panels at the National Arts Council,
People's Association and the National Youth Council. He is currently
teaching Flute at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. |

aikumar is a post-graduate in music from the Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvanthapuram, India. For 13 years, he has performed in various music concerts all over India and accompanied leading musicians in their performances. He is currently a music teacher at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society in Singapore.

| Santhosh
Menon started learning the art of mridangam at the age of seven
under Guru Madhavadas. He furthered his studies under at the
tutelage of Sri Palghat CS Krishnamoorthy. He holds a diploma
from the Swathi Thirunal Music Academy in Trivandrum, India.
He is also proficient in playing the Maddalam, Edakka, Chenda
and many other precussion instruments. He has traveled widely to France, Egypt, Turkey,
the Middle East, Mexico and the USA. For his outstanding contributions,
he was conferred with the title of "Sangeetha Kala Nipuna" in
2001 by Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. He has provided
percussion accompaniment in
all our recent productions and is the most favoured percussionist by
other arts groups including National University of Singapore Cenntre for
the Arts. He teaches Mridangam at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. |

India. He is a versatile veena player and a graded artiste

Jatinder Singh Bedi
(Tabla) |

atinder Singh Bedi, hailing from a family of musicians, was initiated into Tabla training at the tender age of 4 by his father. In later years, he had the rare opportunity to study under the guidance of Bhai Anand Singh Ji of Punjab Gharana, Ustaad Chamba Khan Saahib of Delhi Gharana and the Late Ustaad Bandu Khan Saahib of Ajrarda Gharana under the age old tradition of Guru Shisha Parampara. He also acquired a diploma in Tabla from the Central Sangeet School of Delhi which is affiliated to the Sangeet Samiti of Allahabad. He has been a regular artiste with the All India Doordarshin Radio & Television and Punjabi Academy Delhi. In Singapore, Jatinder has been contributing to the Singapore Arts Scene for the past 14 years as a regular performing artiste on various stages.

Sudamani

| Sudamani
is a disciple of veena maestro Dr Chitti Babu and holds a
Master's Degree in Music from the University of Madras and the
Technical Teachers' Certificate from the Tamil Nadu government.
She has performed for All India Radio and Doordarshan and taken
part in the Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in Thiruvaiyaru, apart
from various public concerts in India and Singapore. Conversant
in Tamil, English, Hindi and proficient in Sanskrit, she has
more than 20 years of experience in teaching veena at all
levels. She has also been known for the feat of "A Veena
Played by Two Persons", which was well publicised in India. |

Anita
started learning music and veena from her mother, the late
Krishnakumari Kumar who was a well-known veena player in
Singapore. She continued her knowledge with other famous veena
vidwans. She has also learnt sitar from Khan Sahib. Currently
she is teaching Veena at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. |

K.Narayanasamy
(Harmonium) |
| K.Narayanasamy
is one of the well-known locally born artistes in Singapore. He
learned the classical music from the late Mr Pandit M.
Ramalingam who was a leading Carnatic musician in Singapore.
Mr
K.N. Samy has been playing harmonium, flute, accordion and organ
since 1951 and has taken part in various classical and
semi-classical programmes on radio and television in Singapore.
He teaches harmonium and flute at Sai centres in Singapore. Mr
K.N. Samy was one of the members of the Singapore Cultural
Delegation to East Malaysia in 1962.
He
has also played the harmonium for the workshops conducted by Dr
Balamurali Krishna, the legendary Carnatic singer of India, held
in April 2003 at the Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society. He is
currently a Music teacher at our Society.

Pendharkar

| Medha
Pendharkar learnt to play the Sitar since her childhood. She
took initial sitar lessons from a music school in Nagpur (Central
India). After that, she studied Sitar under Govindrao Kulkarhi
(a disciple of Ustad Allauddin Khan of Maihar).
After
her marriage, she moved to Mumbai. There, she got a chance to
study under Annapurna Devi (daughter and disciple of Ustad Allauddin
Khan). She also learnt from sarod maestro Pandit Brijnarayan
(son of sarangi player Pandit Ramnarayan). She formerly
conducted classes in Mumbai and now teaches Sitar at Nrityalaya Aesthetics
Society. |

Wee
Shoo Leong
(Oil Painting) |
| Born
in Singapore in 1958, Wee graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine
Arts, Singapore in 1979. In 1984, he won the United Overseas
Bank Painting of the Year Award. He won a Silver Medal at Salon
'85 in Paris and was awarded a year later the First Commonwealth
Foundation Fellowship in London. In 1987 Wee joined an oil
painting study programme at Sydney College of Arts, Australia.
Several solo exhibitions have followed, one at Robin Gibson
Gallery, Sydney and others in Singapore.
Wee
is possibly one of the most outstanding oil painters in
Singapore. The discipline, technique and vision that he has
built his oeuvre with are quite beyond compare in this city,
hence little wonder that his paintings have become sought after
by collectors in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Some
of his paintings have also been brought to auction at steady
prices. He teaches Oil Painting at Nrityalaya Aesthetics
Society. |
